Episode 43: Damnit Mulholland

St. Francis Dam

The ill-fated St. Francis Dam where Mulholland took short cuts connecting cement to porous red sandstone rock.

March 12, 1928

Due to the dams poor design 12 Billon gallons of water escaped the dam when the walls failed, washing away everything within it's path. The water ran all the way to the Pacific Ocean

Nothing survived

All building within the path (Power House 2 pictured here) were washed away. 450 people were killed due to being in the path of the flood that resulted from the dam failure.
